T4 and T6 Heat Treatment for Welded Aluminum Structures

T4 and T6 are the two standard heat treatment tempers for aluminum alloy bicycle frames. Both begin with solution heat treatment under precisely controlled conditions followed by quenching; T4 then ages naturally at room temperature, while T6 is artificially aged in a controlled furnace cycle for the alloy's highest practical strength. Huang Wei has operated in-house T4/T6 heat treatment since 2018, integrated into its one-stop OEM manufacturing flow.

Integrated Post-Weld Aluminum Performance Optimization

Aluminum welding alters microstructure and mechanical properties, especially in the weld seam and heat-affected zone (HAZ). To restore, stabilize, and enhance structural performance, Huang Wei integrates both T4 and T6 heat treatment equipment as a systematic part of the welding process.

Depending on alloy grade, structural requirements, and performance objectives, we apply either T4 or T6 treatment to ensure consistent mechanical behavior, dimensional stability, and long-term reliability across aluminum assemblies.
